Only in Berkeley......

Tuesday's we meet with the relatively new mom's group we joined. I happen to be the oldest in the group so naturally that makes me the cool kid. And then throw into the mix that I'm the only boy and you can just imagine the rest. Today after we wrapped up our playdate, we walked over to a creek where there were rolling hills and lots of trees with squirrels frollicking. I desperately wanted to share my granola and other snacks with the squirrels so mommy threw a chunk of granola which Mr. Squirrel gobbled up. Along comes a man who could fit the criteria of a homeless person. And he had the largest beer I've ever seen in his hand. He proceeded to get on mommy's case for the following issues:
a) creating fearless squirrels
b) creating animals that will now beg for food
c) toxifying animals

Ha! Mommy couldn't believe her ears about the toxic comment and shot back telling the man that we were feeding the squirrels only organic food that had no genetically modified ingredients whatsoever! And then told him we're proud members of PETA too. That was somewhat of a little white lie but we are in favor of the animals so we may as well be card carrying members! As we were leaving, we noticed a bit of a stink in the air and to our bewilderment, our new found friend was smoking something mama referred to as grass. We asked him about the toxicity level of it and expressed our concern for his well being and the took off like a bat out of hell! Oh the things we learn in our daily living.

What an exciting day Jake!!! The only boy in your play group, granola eating squirrels, and homeless people all in one day.
