How our day has progressed thus far...

4am ....I awake and run in to ask mommy if it's time to fly to hawaii. I'm told to go back to bed! I awake at 5:30 to the sound of suitcases being zipped up. We are scheduled to vacate the house at 6 sharp. 6am rolls around and Sophie is just waking up. Daddy takes the enormous box of food we are schlepping along with us and notices a tear in the side. Hold the boat....box change. Had this not happened, our day would be totally different. Depart the house at 6:15 and daddy is relatively calm considering we are running late and have a flight leaving at 7:30 on the busiest travel day of the year. Arrive at park n fly and wait longer than usual for a shuttle to fetch us. Shuttle only makes one stop and it isn't in our terminal. Daddy spins around and turns into superman. Grabs a baggage cart and trots off to check us in. When we arrive soon after him, he's in the front of the line. It's about 6:58am. Instead of being called next, they take the next two people waiting in the first class line. It's his turn at 7:01. The words are quickly uttered from the agents lips, 'the flight closes 30 minutes before departure...sorry.' Daddy begs and pleads but the woman says no way jose! She says we can fly to Seattle at 9am and then depart from there tomorrow morning. Mama says perfect!!! We can make a impromtu visit to Auntie Ro. Agent goes to book it and seats are gone in a flash! There are 4 seats available leaving from San jose in the morning. Great! We will take them. Catch is that we must upgrade to first class. Even better. Book 'um Dano. We leave the counter and head to take a seat in the airport to regroup. Mama suggests we get a hotel at the San jose airport as returning back home would truly be a buzz kill. Daddy agrees and he's on line in a jiff booking a hotel. After it's booked he realizes the computer was logged into the European version....adri was hotel shopping while in france. Hotel is booked for tomorrow rather than today due to the obvious time difference. A call to headquarters fixes the problem but not before being hit with a change fee. We then return to get our car and head to breakfast. While daddy is having a moment of silence in the lavatory, he receives a call from the bank saying that his credit card has been frozen due to possible fraud. What??? How will we pay for our travels without it?? That gets straightened out and we are back in business. A call to the resort in Kauai is placed to alert them of our travel status. We are informed that we will not be credited the $350 for tonights room that will remain empty. Hertz does make a promise to hold our car until the morning. Upon arrival to our hotel in San jose, daddy tells his sob story to the clerk and gets us a room upgrade. Daddy was ready for a swim in the pool, however, pool is ripped into shreads undergoing a facelift. While he's busy checking us in, a call comes in from Mel telling us that our garage door is open. What???? How'd that happen? Not sure but she runs down and closes it. We have tallied up the cost of our little mistake and it's now over the thousand dollar mark. Poor daddy. He is not very happy about any of this!!!! Mama vows to consume a grand worth of cocktails while sitting in first class tomorrow. it's not even 1pm and exhaustion has set in.
