there's something y'all need to know about my lovely daddy and that is this.....he strives very hard to be the millionaire next door. What that translates to is that a dollar saved today is something like $1000 come retirement. That's all fine and dandy but when there are snow storms lingering in the forecast and you're in the mountains trying to get back to Oakland, spending $50 on chains sounds like a reasonable purchase, no? fortunately, despite what the Internet says, you can actually purchase chains in Tahoe and more importantly, have them installed for just $20. Plus, the guy showed daddy how to install them so he could do it himself in the future. Mama suggested we sell them to someone heading up the mountain for twice what we paid for them but daddy demanded that we keep them for future use. In the end, it was decided that the highway patrol is in cahoots with the chain dealers because there was no bloody reason that a chain advisory be issued today. That's right, it was a fraud. The snow fall wasn't great enough to warrant the use of chains. We think it's all because Tahoe has had a crappy snow fall this season thus causing chain sales to plummet. plus, being that it's nearing the end of the month, people just needed to make some quick cash while charging $30 to put the chains on. At any rate,we are very happy to have escaped the storm in one piece without incidence. We had a terrific time sledding and playing in the snow and surprisingly, no one suffered from frostbite. Or had a sledding accident. Or burnt their tongue on hot cocoa. Or met a bear while in the jacuzzi. It's was all shits and giggles. Although a few tears were shed over the end of the 49er crusade to make it to the Super Bowl. Mama has decided that she will never ever attempt to hike up machu pichu again as she was quite affected by the change in altitude. She was like a snail trying to traverse through honey. It wasn't pretty at all! She does want to make ski bunnies out of us so it looks like we'll be returning to the mountains in the future!!!
